I started to send love and admire these lovely people for putting the effort, the energy and the masks needed to making so many passers by smile, happy and enjoy their day, its remarkable dont you think?
Then my thoughts started to wonder, its not only in the streets one wears a mask, we do it in our day to day life the moment we wake up, we do it when we meet people, go to work, be with our partners, friends, family and with ourselves too.
Let me ask you something, have you ever seen someone disguise himself as an statue, your favourite movie character, or as your favourite building?
Take a moment in your day, go in front of a mirror, look at yourself in the eyes and ask yourself the question what mask am i wearing, what does it say about you and the world you live in ?
My thoughts then took me to a recent trip to New York city, if you have been there and have done the boat trip around the statue of Liberty, in the area where you wait for the boat trip you will see many performers disguised as statue the statue of liberty itself. I decided to have a picture with one of them, our 5 minutes chat afterwards about why he has doing left me with a unique memory of that moment and huge empathy for the world in general. Then another thought popped into my head about an article I read, an interesting story about a man who was attempting to illegally cross the USA border by disguising himself as a car seat, i started to think, isn't that amazing, we are all live in the world of masks and synchronicity, Matrix the movie came into my head too.
I opened my eyes and I stared at the picture I was seeing on south bank with various performers, compared it to many other performers I have seen on my trips around the world, theatre and in my day to day life and I couldn't help laughing. It was hard to believe. I kept wondering, “How could he think he really looked like a car seat, and why did he think he could get away with it?”
And then it struck me that I, you and everyone around us is just like that guy or other performers out there, we are all wearing a different mask, one that has been with us the day we were born. We disguise ourselves as human when in reality we are energy, light and spiritual beings.
I had a vision of how those that are totally aware that we are energy beings, spiritual, might stare at our human disguise and wonder, “what are they thinking?”
Isn’t it obvious that most of the time we are not thinking we are energy or spiritual beings?
We look in the mirror and see – ourselves, a person, a human. A man disguised as a statue or a car seat would have a heck of a time trying to do anything at all. Everything would be an effort. We – disguised as a human – have the same problem.
About the same time that I was walking on south bank I also attended few birthday parties and was invited by a friend of mine to a cabaret night at the Century club in London, I saw this disguise in many people I met that night and over the entire week.
The moment I am asked what I do, have explained it to them that I am a Life Coach-Healer and that in the nature of my work I create a safe space for people to transform their thinking about themselves, everyone puts a mask and start to talk to me about their relationship problems, issues and situations that they feel there is no way out.
What do we do when disguised as a mortal in situations like this? We could either be “stubborn” by seeing only one side of the issue saying, “This is how it is,” or “open” and see two sides but then not be able to decide which is most important. Either way, the discussion and decision usually isolates or confuses, but doesn't really solve the problem.
Imagine for a second what would happen if we dropped the disguise - looked in the mirror and saw the reflection, thought, expression and outcome of Divine Intelligence? Without the human disguise there would be nothing to be confused about.
As this divine universal energy or as a Spirit the discussion might be something like this: “We know we are always in our perfect place because Spirit is omnipresent and omniscient. Home is the qualities of love, acceptance, commitment, trust, compassion, honour, encouragement, safety, warmth, creativity, etc.” You might have your own definition or belief.
We might continue by knowing that these qualities are Spiritual and are all of what we are, now and forever. The result would then be the practical representation of those qualities evident in our lives now - expressed as the perfect son, sister, partner, boyfriend, daughter, parents, town, home, work etc.
Without the human disguise we would see that all we need to do is BE Spiritual, BE the Love we came onto this world to be following the still small voice as it guides us each moment of the day.
As a Spiritual being it would not be necessary to know exactly what will happen – a month – a year – or a lifetime from now. It would not be necessary to control any situation, we simply be!
In my case, the outcome of choosing to embrace my Spirit, seeing myself as being One with everyone else and all that exist I am able to detach from this mask and help anyone, in any given situations that comes my way find their way to their true self that they call home-their own heart and true sense of belonging-their Soul and Spirit!
I have seen a lot of people pass away, none I know I have taken their physical body with them. It’s hard to wear a human disguise and try to cross a border into Heaven.
So for any of you out there that are not living your truth, are afraid to remove the mask, and are ready to start living and just being what you really are – Spirit on a journey, The Velvet Journey’s “Be Your Self, Change Your World” workshop to be held Saturday 23rd/ Sunday 24th March 2013 is a workshop to help you start this inner journey, learn your disguise and start living your true authentic self-Spirit you are!
